Dakshineswar Kali Temple

Dakshineswar Kali Temple

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is one of the most famous and sacred Hindu temples in Kolkata, dedicated to Goddess Kali. Located on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, the temple was established in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni. It is renowned for its beautiful traditional Bengali architecture, spiritual significance, and historical importance.

The temple complex features the main shrine of Goddess Bhavatarini (a form of Kali), along with several smaller temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Radha-Krishna. It is also closely associated with Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, who served as a priest here and played a major role in its spiritual legacy.

Thousands of devotees and tourists visit Dakshineswar Kali Temple every year to seek blessings, admire the riverside setting, and experience its peaceful spiritual atmosphere. It remains one of the most important religious and cultural landmarks in West Bengal.
